Lent, the Passover and Easter are very important seasons in the Christian calendar and it can sometimes Passover us with all the busyness of life. News on the pandemic and social media are all jostling for our attention.
I knew that if I didn’t become intentional about Easter, I can miss an important opportunity to review what God did for me and celebrate the essence of it personally. I want it to be a season of being grateful for the life Christ died to give me on earth and the one to come.
A few years ago, I immersed myself in the reason for the season each Easter, by reading the gospel story. I also listened to teaching and though it’s the same story every Easter, God highlights something new to me. This keeps the meaning fresh in my heart. To me, it’s an important memorial of the work God started right from the fall of man at the beginning of time.
I really believe that when you set your mind to seek God during Easter, He will meet with you and open your eyes up to see glimpses of glory that you may not see another time.
Two men on their way to Emmaus after the death and resurrection of Christ were talking about the entire event. Their hearts were clearly engaged in this passionate discussion as they reviewed the events over the last two days. These men were clearly believers, and Jesus had informed His followers to wait for Him in Jerusalem.
Jesus appeared to them on their journey, but they did not recognise Him. He started teaching them, taking them back through the prophets and how they prophesied He was to die and be glorified on the third day.
The men invited him for supper and as he blessed and broke the bread, their eyes were open. Without being told, they headed back to Jerusalem. Their encounter with Jesus, not only gave them clarity of thought, but a clear direction of where they should be.
You can read the full story in Luke 24:13-35.
Jesus will visit you too when you intentionally seek to know Him more. He will clear the fog in your head and navigate your journey to the new life he purposed for you to live!
